February love

The poet Rumi said, "Love is the whole thing. We are only pieces." When you meet and talk with Dr. Tracy Weeden, you feel the genuine love she has for all people. It was an honor to have her as my February Cup of Capacity interview. 

Dr. Tracy Weeden is a seasoned and passionate leader dedicated to advancing literacy and academic excellence. She has spent her career developing scalable and innovative programs, systems, and teams. 

In her current role as President and CEO of Neuhaus Education Center, Dr. Weeden is expanding the reach and impact of the Neuhaus Education Center (NEC) within the State of Texas, and on a national level.  The NEC mission provides evidence-based professional learning to educators, information and resources to families, and adult literacy services.

Prior to serving at NEC, Dr. Weeden was the Executive Director of Academic Planning for Scholastic Achievement Partners.  Dr. Weeden spent 5 years as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the Houston ISD. 

A graduate from the University of Detroit, with a B.A. in Speech Communications and English, Dr. Weeden also received her M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.

Malene Golding!

Malene Golding is the first interview on Cup of Capacity! Malene Golding is a wife and mother of 3, who is the founder of Golding Touch Education Consulting LLC, which provides critical professional development and job-embedded coaching in reading and writing instruction. She's also a Professor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Malene is the Chair of the Texas Association for Literacy Educators and the former Director of Elementary Literacy in one of the largest public school systems in Texas.  When I was dreaming up this fun project-to introduce educators and their leaders to masterful people in the education community-I thought of Malene. She is a wonder. Malene is a deep thinker, a person who both understands the requirements of our current accountability system at all levels and has a profound knowledge of what learning needs to look like to best meet the needs of our children. So you want to get an advanced degree...

    There are a few things I have always known that I wanted for my life. I wanted to be a teacher and a principal. I wanted to be a wife and a mother.
